Privacy Conference 2023: A successful event with 1200 participants and inspiring talks

1.200 participants, 60 speakers, 35 sessions – this was Privacy Conference 2023! 

The discussions on current issues regarding the compatibility of AI and data protection, cloud security and PETs, as well as cases on data subjects' rights have left the audience inspired.  

Among many other highlights, we were pleased to welcome Tanja Jost (Head of the Directorate for Technological Data Protection, Telecommunications and Telemedia, Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information). In her keynote, she focused on the compatibility of AI and data protection: "It is a central task for society and politics to shape AI in such a way that people and their rights are at the heart of it." 

The opening keynote of the second day was delivered by Didier Reynders (European Commissioner for Justice, in charge of Rule of Law and Consumer Protection): "We want to ensure that protection travels with the data." 

Owen Rowland (Department for Science Innovation and Technology) provided an in-depth update on the Data Protection and Digital Information Bill in the UK: "We will continue to engage with the EU to ensure our existing data adequacy decisions can remain in place. This is a top priority."

The next edition of Privacy Conference is scheduled for 09 and 10 October 2024 – we are already looking forward to it!
